Meet OGC Mission Fund Recipient: Kitchen Table Advisors

At OGC, we believe in the power of partnership to create a more sustainable food system. We’re thrilled to spotlight one of our long-standing partners, Kitchen Table Advisors (KTA).

KTA supports small farmers and ranchers who use organic practices and are focused on environmental and social change in the food system. Their vision is to rebuild a food system rooted in community, justice and ecological responsibility. To make this vision a reality, KTA makes it a priority to work with owners of small farms and ranches who have historically been excluded from resources and recognition within our food system – namely the BIPOC, women, low-income, immigrant and LGBTQ+ communities.

KTA supports their farmers and ranchers every step of the way through two key programs. Their personalized 1:1 business advising meets producers where they’re at with resources and thought partnership while their Ecosystem Building program seeks to increase farmer power and equitable access to land, markets and capital at the institutional level.

In 2022, OGC gave KTA an unrestricted Mission Fund grant, but our partnership goes beyond financial support, we’re proud to source products from some of their farmers.

“The dual support, funding KTA to support the economic viability of small-scale farms and sourcing directly from the farms we partner with, is particularly impactful when you think about what it takes to create change in our food system,” said Liz Aviles, Partnership Manager at Kitchen Table Advisors. “Already this year, many farmers were impacted by storms and heavy flooding along the Central Coast of CA which led to loss of income and disruption in sale channels for clients with little to no safety net…It’s important that the community pulls together to support each other, and we’re grateful to have partners like OGC.”
