In the Spirit of Giving, OGC Delivers Over $165,000 in Grants, Nourishing 65 Organizations in 2022

Organically Grown Company’s mission is to promote and inspire the growth of the organic agricultural movement. For decades, OGC has given back a portion of our profits to mission-aligned organizations dedicated to fighting for causes we believe in and nourishing the Northwest communities we serve.  Our Mission Fund, created when OGC became the first company in the nation to transition to perpetual trust ownership in 2018, distributes grants each year. This year, OGC gave $150,000 in grant funding to 65 organizations across our region.

“Cultivating a resilient organic supply chain and investing in the environment and the community is the right thing to do and part of our DNA,” said Brian Keogh, OGC buyer and co-chair of the company’s Stakeholder Giving Committee. “We’re dedicated to sharing our success so others can thrive; we want to provide access to resources that may be hard for many small to mid-size farmers and businesses to secure without OGC’s partnership.”

Our annual Mission Fund grant-making is led by coworkers who help define giving priorities and select initiatives to support. This year, our grants focused on:

·        Promoting small and medium organic farm viability

·        Supporting growers, handlers and customers with direct relationships to OGC, targeting projects that increase the resiliency and viability of our farmers and customers, strengthen our relationships or address barriers to a consistent supply chain

·        Preserving farmland

·        Educating youth about organic agriculture and connecting them to organic food

·        Increasing the accessibility of organic food to underserved or underrepresented communities, including emergency relief efforts

·        Building equity in our regional farm and food systems by supporting underserved or underrepresented communities including those who identify as Black, persons of color, Indigenous and LGBTQIA+

·        Addressing and mitigating the impacts of climate changes, preserving the natural environment, and protecting natural resources

We’re excited to announce our 2022 Mission Fund grant recipients.

We’re grateful to these organizations for their important work and positive impact. In the coming months, we’ll introduce you to some of the amazing people and their exceptional work that OGC is proud to support through grants, in-kind produce donations and gleaning programs.
