OGC’s Community Contributions Support More Than 50 NW Nonprofits in 2020

The spirit of gratitude is in the air this month, and we’re feeling incredibly thankful for the work and resiliency of the nonprofits in our region who have continued to help those in need and work for important causes during an exceptionally challenging year.

Part of OGC’s mission and purpose is to support the health of the communities we serve. We do this by earmarking 2.5 percent of our net profits annually to fund our Community Contributions program, a program that’s been in place since 1999. Throughout the year, cash and in-kind donations of fresh organic produce are made to Northwest-based nonprofits focused on organic and sustainable agriculture, conservation and environmental advocacy, environmental education, supporting farmworkers, and hunger relief.

Requests for support are fielded and managed by our own Community Contributions Committee (CCC). Donations target groups on the ground, taking direct action, and providing immediate services. So far in 2020, the CCC has made cash and in-kind donations on behalf of OGC to more than 50 schools and nonprofits!

OGC is grateful for the dedication of these groups who have pivoted to address the changing needs of the communities they serve during this very unusual year. If you have a suggestion for a great nonprofit to support in 2021, we’d love to hear from you! We have a form on our website to capture your ideas.
