Go Bananas for GROW Month
Bananas are having a moment. Let’s GROW it.
Bananas have always been a produce department MVP. Now they’re showing up everywhere, from coffee and matcha to snacks, drinks and desserts. This September, GROW Month is a chance to turn some of that banana buzz toward the real deal and give shoppers an even better reason to reach for a bunch.
GROW stands for Giving Resources and Opportunities to Workers, a program created by Organics Unlimited to support the communities where its fruit is grown. Every case of GROW bananas contributes $0.60 to the program.
A little fruit. A lot of GROW.
Education is at the heart of the program. In 2024, GROW sponsored 90 scholars from primary school through college, with comprehensive support designed to address the barriers that can keep young people from continuing their education. That includes school fees, uniforms and transportation as well as meals, tutoring, computer access, counseling and for university students, room and board.
GROW also supports health and human services, environmental justice initiatives and disaster relief in the communities it serves.
