Let’s Give Shoppers More Reasons to Choose Organic
This September, the organic community across Oregon and Washington is coming together for Pacific Northwest Organic Week, a regional celebration of organic food, farming and the people who make it all possible.
Jointly organized by the Oregon Organic Coalition and Washington’s Tilth Alliance, PNW Organic Week brings farmers, retailers, restaurants, distributors and communities together to spotlight the organic producers and practices that make our region’s food system so special.
The goal is simple: inspire more people to buy or try something organic.
For retailers, that creates a great opportunity to turn a week of celebration into more discovery, education and excitement in the store.
Why Get Involved?
Organic has deep roots in the Pacific Northwest, and a big impact on our regional food economy. Washington ranks second in the nation for organic sales at more than $1.14 billion, while Oregon ranks fifth at $386 million. From the farms growing our food to the retailers putting it on shelves, organic is an important part of our regional food system, and something worth celebrating.
PNW Organic Week is a chance to bring that bigger organic story right to the shelf and connect it to the products shoppers already know and love.
Retailers play an especially important role. A great display, a taste of something new or a conversation about where food comes from can turn an everyday shopping trip into someone’s first organic purchase.
It’s also an opportunity to:
Drive organic trial and sales by giving shoppers a timely reason to discover something new.
Celebrate local and regional producers and connect shoppers with the people and places behind their food.
Build shopper engagement through sampling, storytelling and education about what organic means and why it matters.
Create energy in-store with promotions and displays that make organic visible, approachable and fun.
Make It Your Own
There’s no one right way to participate. PNW Organic Week is designed to be flexible, so retailers can build an activation that works for their stores, shoppers and teams.
Go big with an organic feature or event, or keep it simple with signage, social posts or sampling. Ideas include highlighting Oregon and Washington grown organic products, hosting a farmer or producer meet-and-greet, creating a feature display or inviting shoppers and staff to share why they choose organic.
The PNW Organic Week toolkit makes it easy to jump in, with activation ideas, creative assets for print and digital promotions, ready-to-use social content, and resources to help tell the organic story.
Let’s Make Some Organic Noise
At OGC, we know what happens at the shelf matters. Every organic purchase supports a larger food system built around organic farmers, healthy soil, thriving communities and a better future for food and farming.
PNW Organic Week is our chance to celebrate that impact together, and give more shoppers a reason to put organic in their carts.
