Supporting farms and protecting farmland is essential. Washington Farmland Trust (WFT) has been working for decades to preserve farmland and assist a new generation of farmers. Their wide-ranging programs include farmland conservation efforts, land access technical assistance, stewardship initiatives, sustainability efforts, and more.

OGC has been partners with WFT for a long time and, in 2022, we gave them an unrestricted Mission Fund grant. WFT is using the funds to support their Advancing Farm Sustainability program which helps farmers implement organic and regenerative practices. In addition, funds will be dedicated to their general operating budget, some of which they’ll use to provide their staff with professional development opportunities and invest in their work culture.

“We’re excited to use these funds to grow our programs and deepen our organizational investments in staff well-being,” said Melissa Campbell, executive director of WFT. “Our goal is to serve the needs of Washington farmers; thriving farms keep us all healthy and resilient.”

Washington Farmland Trust is just one of the many organizations OGC’s Mission Fund supported in 2022. Find a list of all our recent grant recipients at https://www.organicgrown.com/blog/2022missionfundgiving
