This initiative helps the planet, our coworkers, customers and bottom line. Here’s how:
Our drivers are paid 50 cents per pallet, amounting to over $55k in payments in 2023.
Purchasing 112,223 used pallets would’ve cost nearly $650,000.
Our customers don’t have to worry about taking the pallets anywhere or paying for them to get taken away.
About 4,488,000 pounds of pallets were recovered, equivalent to saving over 10,000 trees.
In one year, a mature tree will absorb more than 48 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and release oxygen in exchange.
This number isn’t included in our Zero Waste percentage, though it could be, which would bump the reported diversion rate from 93% to 98%. The pallet recovery program is above and beyond our work on Zero Waste. Because, at the end of the day, our priority is putting the planet first.
